All the hard work and training paid off last Saturday, when our wonderful director, Gilva Tisshaw donned her walking boots and completed a 26.2-mile marathon, raising money for the charity Macmillan Cancer Support.
Starting at Windsor Racecourse, the Thames Towpath Mighty Hike, followed the winding river through Maidenhead, Cookham and Bourne End, before finishing near Henley-on-Thames.
Despite the sweltering heat, the spectacular scenery from attractive meadowland, to historic churches, grand houses, riverside villages, along with quaint locks and bridges, helped to make the journey less arduous. As did Gilva’s motive for taking on the challenge.
“So many lives are affected by cancer and the coronavirus pandemic has made life even tougher for those with a diagnosis. Macmillan do such a fantastic job at helping people and their families with both practical and emotional support and advice, that I wanted to show my respect, admiration and appreciation for all their efforts.”
We’re proud to report that at the time of writing, Gilva has raised over £300.
