Proud to support the circus with a purpose

For the past 35 years, Circus Starr have brought all the fun of the circus to children and families with additional needs or living in difficult circumstances. Their mission is to transform, enrich and inspire the lives of those families who need it most through the magical art of circus performance.

Attending mainstream events can be difficult for some and 50% of families with disabled children say the stigma and discrimination they face make them feel isolated. In fact, 43% of these families report being turned away from events. As a result, Circus Starr have created a ‘tut-free zone’ where all are encouraged to shout, sing, dance or jump up and down, without prejudice or judgement.

Circus Starr also benefit families who cannot afford a day out together and those facing challenges such as domestic violence, bereavement or living with a life-limiting condition.

These fantastical performances take place in a safe, warm, welcoming, inclusive and unique atmosphere. A place where children and their families can lose themselves, shout with joy, move to the music and appear on stage in an immersive experience unlike any other.

The company performs throughout the UK using the best circus talent from around the world, staging up to 148 fabulous animal-free shows every year. To help enable this wonderful work, Tisshaws are proud to support Circus Star with an annual donation, particularly after a tough couple of years which may have left some children and families feeling more isolated than ever.

The next local shows are in Brighton and Crawley, scheduled for January 2022. Free tickets are sent out to children and their families through a network of hospices, schools, hospitals, regional branches of national charities and support groups. Families in need can also apply for tickets direct from Circus Starr.
