Having graduated from Birmingham University, Richard went on to study at the College of Law in Guildford, completing his training in London and qualifying as a solicitor in 2006.

Since then, Richard has specialised in family law, advising clients in relation to the issues that can arise at the end of relationships on separation and divorce, including financial and children arrangements; as well as at the beginning of relationships such as pre and post nuptial agreements, cohabitation agreements and the planning of families, particularly in the LGBT community, where issues around surrogacy and co-parenting can be complex.

Committed to offering his clients more conciliatory approaches to dispute resolution and sparing them the added stress, expense and timescales of the courts, Richard is a trained Collaborative Lawyer, as well as acting as an independent Mediator for separating couples These more cooperative approaches based on face-to-face meetings to resolve issues and secure the best outcomes, allow Richard to properly get to know and support his clients through challenging times. Richard is also an accredited Resolution Specialist in Complex Financial and Property Matters.

A regular contributor to the Family Law Journal and Resolution Review, Richard has also blogged on family law issues for Huffington Post UK.

Based in Brighton, Richard loves the combination of city life, seafront walks and easy access to the glorious Sussex countryside.
